The editorial reflects on the notion of a "culture war" in contemporary Argentina, particularly in the context of Pope Francis's passing. It examines how disputes over history, identity, symbols, and values shape various aspects of social life, including politics, education, media, religion, and collective memory. Historical tensions, such as those stemming from the last civic-military dictatorship and the Malvinas War, are discussed, highlighting how history and memory serve as tools for ideological struggle. The article advocates for building a critical historical culture rooted in the common good and human rights, inspired by the values expressed by Pope Francis.
