The following communication aims to present the state of progress of the research The Museum of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, accredited in the National Program of Incentives for Research Teachers, as a project of shared dependence between the Departamento de Ciencias Económicas and the Secretaría de Extensión Universitaria (PICD 55 B214), and which seeks to generate a museum proposal for this house of high studies. Among the intentions it was established that it will be presented in congruence with those existing in the university subsystem, and it is around this specificity that the article will be developed. The operationalization process of the survey of the museums managed by the national universities will be specified, and the research techniques deployed by the research team will be detailed. The two stages defined in the observation phase will be particularized: the exploratory one, which allowed defining the sample, based on a virtual ethnographic record; and that of entering the field, with a questionnaire to be sent and self-applied by the personnel in charge of each museum; in the exhibition will be attended to specify expected results from each methodological decision. The current state of survey that began in September includes 42 museums belonging to 18 national universities; and it continues in execution, so no results achieved until it is completed will be detailed.
