Antigua Matanza journal features seven permanent sections, each with its own specific objectives and scope.

Submission Guidelines

When submitting a manuscript, authors should note that the order of the sections in the journal's table of contents is unalterable from one issue to the next. The suggested length of articles is based on the objective of each section. Please note that the editorial team may suggest publishing the article in a section different from the one submitted.

Section Details

Section 1: Historical Inquiries

Scope: Original research within the framework of regional history (the region that constitutes the subject of study must be specified).

Types of submissions: Research articles. In all cases, authors must identify where and for what purpose the research that originated the article was conducted (indicating the code if applicable) and establish a conflict of interest statement disclosing any financial, professional, or other interest related to the topic of the work or project being submitted for evaluation.

Recommended average length: 12,500 words.

Section 2: La Matanza and its History

Scope: Intended for works whose subject of study is related to the La Matanza district and/or local history.

Types of submissions: Research articles. In all cases, authors must identify where and for what purpose the research that originated the article was conducted (indicating the code if applicable) and establish a conflict of interest statement disclosing any financial, professional, or other interest related to the topic of the work or project being submitted for evaluation.

Recommended average length: 12,500 words.

Section 3: Imago Mundi

Scope: This section will include original articles that investigate the macro-region, promoting a broad and interdisciplinary approach that encompasses different perspectives and methodologies.

Types of submissions: Research articles. In all cases, authors must identify where and for what purpose the research that originated the article was conducted (indicating the code if applicable) and establish a conflict of interest statement disclosing any financial, professional, or other interest related to the topic of the work or project being submitted for evaluation.

Recommended average length: 11,000 words.

Section 4: Our Legacy

Scope: This section is dedicated to works related to heritage, historical culture, and memory from a regional or local perspective.

Types of submissions: Research articles. In all cases, authors must identify where and for what purpose the research that originated the article was conducted (indicating the code if applicable) and establish a conflict of interest statement disclosing any financial, professional, or other interest related to the topic of the work or project being submitted for evaluation.

Recommended average length: 11,000 words.

Section 5: Sources as Protagonists

Scope: The abandonment of the predominance of written documentation and the expansion of what is considered sources for Historical Science has brought about a renewal in the study of historical phenomena. This section proposes to focus on the methodological uses and deconstruction of these sources, around issues delimited on a regional or local scale.

Section 6: Recommended Readings in History

Scope: Recent bibliographical or historiographical novelties related to history and with a regional scale.

Types of submissions: Reviews or state of the art.

Recommended average length: 3,000 words for reviews and 10,000 words for state of the art.

Section 7: Bibliographic Alert

Scope: Recent bibliographical or historiographical novelties in the field of La Matanza, of recent appearance or which, due to their limited print run, may be considered significant to highlight. Works of recent appearance may also be included, which, due to their value for historiographical discussions linked to local history, are considered pertinent and relevant to the community.

Types of submissions: Reviews or state of the art.

Recommended average length: 3,000 words for reviews and 10,000 words for state of the art.

 

Thematic Dossier

Exceptional inclusion: In the event that the Editorial Team of Antigua Matanza decides to incorporate a thematic dossier together with the permanent sections, the submission conditions, theme, and evaluation methods will be published in the notices section and in the Dossier section respectively. To submit articles in the same, the author must follow the online submission mechanism and respond to the technical indications that are included in this author guide.
