Antigua Matanza is a publication of the Junta de Estudios Históricos under the Secretaría de Extensión Universitaria of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza

, which arises with the aim of disseminating original scientific knowledge in the area of History; venturing within it, in the specific field of regional history. The publication is presented as an academic journal of immediate open access to the whole community, in digital format (pdf, epub, html, xml) in Spanish language, with a biannual frequency.

The articles submitted are read by the editorial committee to verify the relevance of the general subject matter of the journal and compliance with the editorial rules; and evaluated by the scientific committee, based on a double-blind refereeing system to decide on the academic quality and originality of the ideas put forward by the authors.

It includes research results, research reports, scientific communications, among other texts related to the development of Regional History and heritage, historical culture and memory; and to the reconstruction of regional histories with special attention to the search for sources, this concept being understood in a broad way, overcoming the predominance of written documentation. Finally, a space is reserved for bibliographical reviews and state of the art.

The journal is intended for researchers trained and in training in history in particular, and in humanities and social sciences and professionals interested in the defense of cultural and natural heritage in general. There is no charge for publication or for access to the journal, which is free of charge.

The management of the journal is regulated by the Programa de Publicaciones Científicas Periódicas of the Secretaría de Ciencia y Tecnología of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza (San Justo, Argentina) and the preservation of the archives is in the Repository of the National University of La Matanza, managed by the Leopoldo Marechal Library.

It remains to be mentioned that this continues the course initiated by the Carta Informativa de la Junta de Estudios Históricos de La Matanza, which had a wide circulation and with the recognition of the scientific community in its area, having been published for 16 years without interruption. This is the legacy that this publication receives and which is expected to increase, while retaining the editorial excellence of its predecessor.
