Antigua Matanza is a publication of the Junta de Estudios Históricos under the Secretaría de Extensión Universitaria of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza, which emerged with the aim of disseminating scientific knowledge in the area of History; dabbling within it, in the specific field of regional history. The publication is presented as an academic journal with open access to the entire community, in Spanish, with a biannual frequency.

Research results, research reports, scientific communications, thesis summaries, essays, among other texts related to the development of Regional History will be included. A specific section is planned for the dissemination of materials whose object of study is the La Matanza festival and its history, as it is the area of insertion and impact of the national university from which this magazine is published. On the other hand, the macro-region that subsumes the Latin American and / or Latin American countries is included among its contents. This editorial proposal is completed with communications and scientific reports referring to heritage, historical culture and memory; and to the reconstruction of regional histories with special detail in the search for sources, understanding this concept in a broad way, overcoming the predominance of written documentation.

Finally, a space is reserved for bibliographic reviews, art states and alerts about publications related to the area of interest.

The articles submitted will be read by the editorial committee to verify compliance with the editorial regulations and evaluated by the scientific committee, based on a double blind referato system to decide on the academic quality and originality of the ideas raised by the authors.

The magazine is intended for the following reader profile: history and geography professors of medium and higher level; students of the Higher Institutes of Teacher Training of social science careers; university students and professionals in the humanities and social sciences; researchers; heritage professionals; members of sociocultural institutions at the local and regional level; and neighbors centered in associations, interested in the defense of cultural and natural heritage.

The management of the journal is regulated by the Programa de Publicaciones Científicas Periódicas of the Secretaría de Ciencia y Tecnología of the Universidad Nacional de La Matanza (San Justo, Argentina).

It remains to be mentioned that this continues the course initiated by the Carta Informativa de la Junta de Estudios Históricos de La Matanza, which had a wide circulation and with the recognition of the scientific community in its area, having been published for 16 years without interruption. This is the legacy that this publication receives and which is expected to increase, while retaining the editorial excellence of its predecessor.
